Mr. Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi belongs to a prominent political and agriculturist Jatoi family of Sindh. Jatoi family has been in politics for last four generations and played a significant role in the political development of the country. Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi’s father Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, besides holding other important political positions, served as Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1990. Murtaza Jatoi got his early education from Grand Folks School and St. Patrick’s College. He did his Graduation and Masters from Sindh University. He is an MNA from NA-211 Naushehro Feroze.

A veteran politician and in active politics since three and half decades, he has been elected member of National Assembly thrice and member of Sindh Assembly twice. He has served twice as a federal minister and thrice as a provincial minister in Sindh Government. Mr. Jatoi’s illustrious political career started when he was elected as Chairman District Council, Nawab Shah in 1979. He was elected as a Member of Provincial Assembly of Sindh from 1988-1990 and served as Minister for Local Government. He was elected as Member of National Assembly in 1990 and served as Federal Minister for Communications from 1990 to 1992.

He also served as Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis in 1993 for a brief period. Mr. Jatoi was again elected as member of Sindh Assembly in 1997 and served as Minister for Irrigation. He held the office of Advisor to Chief Minister of Sindh on Agriculture from 2004 to 2007. He was also elected as Member of National Assembly from NA-211 Naushero Feroze-I in 2008
